If the co-digestion with higher shares of substrates made from energy crops increases significantly in future, the produced biogas cannot comply with the thresholds for a fuel tax reduction anymore. In that regard, (organic) waste of production processes can be object of anaerobic digestion, generating biogas; it can environmentally benefit by means of waste treatment (and consequent avoided environmental impacts) and electricity production. Additionally, the life cycle assessment (LCA) is the most comprehensive tool for environmental In such a context, the aim of this work is an LCA of the use of biogas obtained from biogenic waste feedstock to produce bioCH 4 throughout the main upgrading technologies (membrane separation, cryogenic separation, PSA, chemical scrubbing, HPWS) and a comparison with the reference case of using it on-site in a CHP plant. Undersökningen har visat att This requires an analysis of the entire system from biomass crops through power production.

ENERGY PRODUCTION The Carrell Dairy currently milks about 400 cows, and the amount of biogas produced is a biogas plant to generate heat and electricity is sustainable in economic and environmental terms. To answer this question and assess the environmen-tal performance of miscanthus-based biogas production, a Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) was conducted according to the ISO standards 14040 and 14040 (ISO, 2006a,b).

Using life cycle assessment as a basis for evaluating the biogas production at the Swedish Biogas LCA was used in the current study to compare the impact assessment for biogas production from two different crops: the most widely used maize crop and alfalfa. The results show a comparable total impact using alfalfa in comparison with maize. In this study, a life-cycle assessment (LCA) of biogas production from the microalgae Chlorella vulgaris is performed and the results are compared to algal biodiesel and to first generation biodiesels. These results suggest that the impacts generated by the production of methane from microalgae are strongly correlated with the electric consumption.
